Adhesion without compromise
Where a high level of tack and excellent shear strength (cohesion) are required, rubbers such as Levamelt® remain the material of choice.
For example, hot melts based on ethylene vinyl acetate (VA) copolymers with a high VA content such as Levamelt® 700 offer excellent polyacrylate-like tack and outstanding adhesion on polar surfaces such as glass, marble or steel. The adhesive effect depends on the specific surface tension of the substrates that are to be protected. Levamelt® has significantly better aging and light resistance than the natural rubber still used in adhesive layers today.
Furthermore, peel tests show that Levamelt® 700 can be removed with a more even application of force thanks to its good cohesion compared with polyacrylates. This ensures that Levamelt®-coated labels are particularly kind to surfaces and can be removed without leaving a residue. In particular, measurements provide evidence of the outstanding performance of co-extruded Levamelt® coatings.
