Films of Levamelt® to protect new vehicles
Safe arrival at the showroom
(PLEASE READ IMPORTANT PATENT INFORMATION AT THE BOTTOM)
New cars must reach the showroom in optimal condition. Due to the fact that the adhesive force of Levamelt® blends can be optimally matched to the surface characteristics of fresh paintwork, these adhesive raw materials from LANXESS play a key role in ensuring that new cars make it safely from the manufacturer to the dealer.
Large-scale manufacturers nowadays rely on removable films which incorporate an adhesive layer made of these intelligent adhesive raw materials from the Levamelt® family to protect the paintwork and glass of new cars from dust, dirt and loose chippings during transport.
The advantage of the Levamelt® solution is that it ensures optimal adhesion in use and easy removal in the car showroom without leaving any trace on the cars. This is because Levamelt®, unlike many other adhesive formulations, does not contain any additives which can penetrate the paintwork.
The application of large protective films is now fully integrated into the production processes of large automotive manufacturers. The manufacturer's robots position the stickers with great precision down to the nearest millimeter. The manufacturers of the films also benefit from the Levamelt® technology since the polymer can easily be processed in the extruder. Co-extrusion results in extraordinarily homogeneous films that adhere reliably and immediately with a layer thickness of as little as five micrometers and can be quickly removed after use without solvents and without leaving residue.
Tesa AG, the owner of various intellectual property rights relating to self-adhesive protective films, has provided LANXESS a worldwide license to make, use, and sell adhesive material products encompassing the Tesa Technology, as well as the right to pass along these rights to our customers. (A listing of the Tesa Technology is provided below.) Importantly, however, the licensing arrangement does NOT include any rights under the Tesa Technology to make, use or sell adhesive material products within the Automotive Sector. The Automotive Sector is understood to mean the field of self-adhesive films for the protection of surfaces in the interior and exterior areas of motor vehicles or their individual components. The Tesa Technology includes the following German Patents and Patent Applications and all equivalent foreign patents and patent applications arising from the German Patents and Patent Applications: DE 195 32 220; DE 196 35 704; DE 197 42 805; DE 199 23 780; DE 199 54 700; DE 199 54 701; DE 100 07 060; DE 100 15 708; DE 100 50 499; and DE 101 23 985.
